You sir, get major daddy points for not making a bad situation worse!

In my job I deal with the traveling public, and I don't know how many times I have seen a parent scream at a child because the parent was tired, scared themselves by what just happened, etc.

I'm always impressed by the ones who: 1) Remain calm in the face of crisis, and 2) Turn it into a "teachable moment".

to qoute Jim Lovell, my favo astro -"we can bounce around the walls for five minutes but the problem remains the same" i.e. it dosn't help and does not contribute to the situation (but sometimes i don't adhere to it)
sometimes yelling at a kid is like - don't use more force, instead use a bigger hammer or if brute force doesn't help - apply more force :D
