The flywheel is made from .03 inch thick cardboard and 110 lb cardstock. It turns, but as a static model, I will probably glue it in place on the crankshaft.

Here are some pictures of how the chain is made. The last few pictures show the rear sprocket cover and a picture of the real thing for reference. The chain is designed to "float" inside the sprocket cover to account for any build variation between the engine shaft and the rear axle.

The engine and drivetrain assembly is now glued permanently to the frame.

The little gear and chain system that you see on the top will eventually be connected to the starter crank, so it is loose on the shaft; so that it can be rotated into the correct position after the body is in place.

The rear drive chain is also loose around the engine shaft - so that it can be rotated into the rear axle position.

Hope the explanation is clear and makes sense.

Ken

The rear axle is now attached to the leaf springs. Everything is nice and square, and the chain fits perfectly inside the sprocket cover. I still need to add the U-bolts, but the first design didn't work - so I am redesigning them.

The pin striping kind of reminds me of the JohnPlayerSpecial scheme that is found on race cars.
