Peugeot 307WRC

Scaled at 1/24, this free download from www.saturn.dti.ne.jp/~eastern/ was obtained a couple of years ago and HOT Laminated. The trick is when taking the printed copies for hot lamination, have both copies of the print facing outward and glue lightly on the corners. After lamination, trim the edges away and peel it off. Then you should have two pages with lamination on the surface and paper underneath. The colour of the laminated model is in fact more pinkish than red as shown on the photos. Thought no way of glueing the parts together because of the laminated surface and thus left it almost untouched for months. After an unintended try recently, a breakthrough came about - glue on the underside, the paper side. Glue used - PVA white glue. And the result is a very glossy and shiny surface. Excess glue and smears can be wiped or scrapped away real easy. So when finished, the model will NOT appear to be messy.

Brilliant! I would have never thought about lamination to provide a glossy surface of a model. In fact I didn't even realize that laminated pages stay fused to the plastic when cut. Thanks for sharing, it looks great!

kacrut, yes, the glue tabs on the laminated sheet need be cut and similar thick paper will be required to make joint tabs to give even support.

Great idea!

I have been relying only on gloss varnish...
