Axles are finished, still need a bit of cleaning up, putty, sanding etc... This was my first time making a dome using the petal method, it turned out ok but it went wrong somewhere and ended up too small so I compensated by adding bolt heads around the outside. The model was designed with the bolts on the other side of the diff so I replaced those with nuts (laser cut). The axles have bamboo skewer in the center and the outer hubs are meant to be glued to the skewer so that the wheels can rotate, so far it's all just sitting loose till I see how the wheels mount to the hubs.

Thanks guys...
I'm currently cutting out the tread for the wheels, a whole A4 sheet of 2mm laminated card, I'll be glad when that's over |

Wheels and hubs... so glad this is over. Cutting the 2mm thick treads was as painful as expected but well worth the effort. Cutting out the letters for the sidewalls of the tyres was a bit fiddly but also well worth the effort, I can't wait to see them painted.
I highly recommend the use of a circle cutter for these parts, there are a lot of circles to cut. |
