Thanks mushroom...
Progress has slowed a little but painting is underway. It's winter here and I usually paint outside but it's too cold for that so I've managed to fight my way through a garden shed full of junk and clear a small area for painting. All the parts I've built so far have been painted, starting with two coats of grey primer as seen in the first picture, then 2-3 coats of colour. I have chosen a spray enamel called "Mandarin" for the yellow, it's about as close as I could get to the Liebherr yellow and it's come up very well. My latest experiment has also turned out very well... inkjet printable waterslide decals. I've wanted to try these for a long time now but had not found an affordable source for the decal sheets, most places wanted to sell me a pack of 20 or more sheets for a large amount of money but I recently came across a website that sells the sheets individually. (craftycomputerpaper.co.uk) I'm very happy with how these have turned out and can't wait to use them in more of my builds. |

Looking good. I've been wanting to try the inkjet decals myself, but having had a reason to yet. So you're happy with them?

Thanks and yes, they're great... you just print your design then seal it with an acrylic lacquer spray. The ones above are clear, I also bought some white sheets for various other labels and stickers that go with this build.
This model has been designed to allow for water-slide decals, providing 2 sets of decals.... The ones you see above and another sheet that are to be printed on a white background. I'm currently working on the cabin interior which will be my first chance to use the white ones... stay tuned |

Thanks Enrico...
I haven't had much time to update this thread lately but here's some new pics of how it's coming along.... Not a lot of this is glued together yet, there's a few minor fit issues that will be fixed when I get the glue onto it The cabin and interior are nearly finished, all internal parts are painted and waiting to be assembled then I need to attach temporary windows so I can spray-paint the cabin exterior. I've also started on the engine and it's the most detailed engine I've had to build so far, my pile of parts waiting to be cut and assembled is starting to get a lot smaller, the end is almost in sight |
