1/16 Smart Cabrio

Hello.
For a change of pace I thought I would do a car this time around.
As a subject I selected Paper Replika's Mercedes Benz Smart Cabrio.
It is a nice detailed model and is being built as a gift for my sister, as this is her favorite car.

This is going to be a lot faster build than the last project.
All ready have the interior and chassis mostly done.

Tonight started on the first part of the body.

Thank you for watching.

Jim

Coming along nicely, Jim.
Wish there was a decent Smart Passion version.

Approximately how much time do you have invested in this project so far? I can't imagine that you got so far in one sitting

Interesting model. Very good so far. I have been seeing a lot of similar very small cars running around lately. When I see a big rig approaching one on the highway it causes a bit of alarm.

Thank you Vermin King, Pat craft and SCEtoAUX.

Hi Vermin King from what is shown here, physical bench time was probably about 6 hours over 2 days.

If the car driver is driving well, they should understand the limitations of the car and drive accordingly. Haven't had any trouble with big rigs on the road.

We now return to our regularly scheduled build.

Hello everyone.

Today assembled the upper front body as well as the head lamps. The overhead sheets worked not too bad for the clear parts.

Side and back body panel were assembled and attached. As well as the lower front panel.
The last thing done tonight was to install the two back side windows.

This is how she looks tonight.

Thank you for viewing.

Having survived 30 years service with the Army with most of it in 'Active' locations, I can assure you that the biggest adrenaline rush I ever experienced was driving a Hienkel Bubble Car fifty miles up the M1 motorway.

Cute as they are, I don't think I'll be buying a Smart Car anytime soon. The Wife's little Corsa is small enough for me, but being an SXi model, it can play in the BMW/Jag lane with no problems. Zoom, zoom ,zoom.

Johnny.

PS: Excellent build there Jim.
