I can't say I am particularly fond of advertisements plastered everywhere, but they do add colour and some textural interest to these vehicles.

However, your comments about them caused me to look at the photographs again, and I noticed a gaffe in one of them. The advertisement for Sun Insurance is supposed to have a face in the middle of the sun symbol, but I see that it is missing from my model. I tracked it down to a bug in the version of Inkscape that I am using (not the latest one, which I have been put off by the reports I have seen of many other bugs).

The image was a JPG file clipped to a circle, which displayed fine in Inkscape, but simply was not printed.

I have now changed it by doing the clipping directly on the image in GIMP, and just putting this clipped image into Inkscape. All now prints perfectly OK. Unfortunately it is now too late to correct my own model, but the image comes out pretty small so the fault is not very noticeable. I failed to notice it before, anyway.

On the last stretch now with two pairs of wheels.

Side lifeguards and an underfloor equipment box.

Finally handrails for the platform and stairs. Apparently the simple expedient of the central pole made a big difference to boarding times, as it encouraged separate streams of downstairs and upstairs passengers and freer flow.

Modern adverts can be insidious, but the ones from a bygone age seem very genteel (unless one objects to smoking).
This model seems to have struck a perfect balance between being detailed enough to be realistic and interesting but not require weeks of cutting and assembling tiny parts and dealing with incredible complexity. That's some skill on the part of the designer.

The finished article.

London General K-type bus, 1:32-pic39.jpg London General K-type bus, 1:32-pic40.jpg

Quite attractive, but not I think as pretty as the B-Type.

Finally, a comparison of the two K-Type models. Not perhaps quite fair on the ABC model, as that was never intended to be a scale model, but a simple diversion with some education for young people.

London General K-type bus, 1:32-pic42.jpg

The model is available on my web site where you can also find (very slightly) updated files for the B-Type. I also tried uploading the files to the download section here, but after the incompetence I showed trying to do this for the B-Type, I think there is a good chance I have messed it up again.

Best wishes to you all, and keep safe,
Alan
