Bumar-Labedy Crane - Modelik
This is my next project. It's been on my pile for a long time and it needs to get built. But first a little back story to make it more interesting...
Back in nineteen and eighty eight (1988), I began my engineering career at Grove Worldwide, then the reported leader in hydraulic telescoping boom mobile cranes. I got to see, feel, hear and lift the new projects as they were being constructed. I got quite familiar with how these machines were constructed. I held that position until 1995 when I changed career pastures. This particular model is not the same brand as I worked for but it is VERY reminiscent of the all terrain cranes that Grove built. I believe this crane is a 50 metric tonne example. It is designed by one of my more favorite designers, so I hope for an enjoyable, relatively trouble free build experience. So gather around and join my journey in it's build. Greg

I subscribed to a thread. This is a very interesting project. Did you know that this crane is mainly used by the fire departments? This particular model also (well, maybe not the model but a crane that the model is based on ), even has operational numbers on the roof (451S48) and the inscription on the door: National Fire Service, Gliwice.

Started the frame. Over a foot long already. No fit issues so far.

The front outrigger box has been assembled and installed. The outrigger beams fit snuggly in the box just like they are supposed to. So far this model seems to be very well designed.
