No I use 1/8 inch wood dowel rods. I bend them with my needle nose pliers and put wood glue where the bends are, then I sand down the bends after it's dried thouroly and if it needs it, I'll use model putty to smooth them out.

I used Rustoleum gold spray for the tank and the back fender and I used Fold Art metallic acrylic paint for the other gold trim. Thanks.
