Tractor Blinov 1887, Robototehnik No.55

Here`s my build of the Tractor Blinov 1887, Robototehnik No.55

The scale is 1:50, the model is approx. 10 x 6 x 7 cm in size.
It is called a tractor Blinov, more correctly it should be called a chain tractor.
In 1879, F.A Blinov ( 1827 - 1902 ) received the patent for “a carriage with endless rails for the transport of goods on country and country roads”. The tractor is said to have been designed and built at the “Blinov Iron and Machinery Plant” in the village of Balakovo, Saratov Region. It was fueled with crude oil. The oil tank and a water tank are located in the front part of the tractor. Then there is the driver's cab, steam boiler, the 2 steam engines and the place for the machine operator. The tracked chassis consists of 2 tracks, a pair of driving and a pair of steering wheels as well as two pairs of support rollers that were located between the driving and steering wheels.
The machine is said to have had 12 hp and reached around 3km/h.
It is said to have been presented at an agricultural exhibition in Saratov in 1889 and at the Nizhny Novgorod fair in 1896.

Why subjunctive?
There is no photo or other evidence that the tractor was built; he probably only gave a lecture about his vehicle at the trade fair in Nizhny Novgorod.
The drawing from which the model is constructed dates from 1949.

I've never gotten around to building that one. At least now I have seen it built by someone other than the designer.

Nice clean build.

Blinov's tractor was probably one of the earliest attempts at a tracked vehicle. It makes a lot of sense in Russia with the spring and autumn mud seasons to use tracked vehicles.

Nice to see one of the Robo kits built, especially with a steam engine. The texture is really enhances the model.

Thanks for the nice comments. The kit was fun to build. I've made a few small changes. The axles are made of toothpicks for better stability. The cover at the end of the axles are doubled with parts from the wheels. I added narrow stripes to the chains. Looks much better than the smooth chains in the kit.
The Walls on the last Photo where from the Robototehnik Kit No. 58, the 1932 Fire engine. The Barrels are from various other kits. Maybe I'll build a small diorama with a steampunk look using these parts.

Claus, I downloaded that one because I thought I'd like to use it in some Steampunk function, too. Or for Space 1889
