Tractor Burrell-Thomson No. 514, 1871 Robototehnik No.43
Hello everyone,
I actually didn't want to write a construction report, but the craft sheet contains a mistake that I've seen on every model built so far. The model is available as a download from Robototehnik. https://vk.com/photo-53733134_456241196 Scale 1:50 Apart from a picture from 1871, no data can be found about the vehicle itself. The performance of a comparable Burrell tractor from 1871, which was used as a passenger tractor on the island of Crete, was given as 12 horsepower. The rear wheel was the size of a grown man wearing a hat. The "514" was built by Charles Burrell (1817 - 1906) in Thetford, England under license from Robert William Thomson (1822 - 1873). However, unlike the Thomson steam cars, it has a horizontal boiler and 2 front wheels that are close together. In 1871, the tractor arrived in Russia with a heat-insulated trailer to transport fresh meat for testing purposes and was tested there by the military. The picture also comes from this time, the rest of the story is lost in the darkness of time. The model does not have an actual frame but is built around 2 large assemblies to which the remaining components are attached. The steam boiler with firing, the axle with rear wheels and the power transmission is pushed through the hole below the steam boiler. The front platform with steering and front wheels. The individual parts of the power transmission to the rear wheels on the right side. The left side laid loosely on top of each other. Now for the error! The rear wheel profiles have the same angle. Solution. Component No. 42, tread of the rear wheel, flip it vertically once and the boss is happy! My “fear part”. The exhaust system AD 1871. 4 cones that should fit together. As a precaution, I printed out the components twice, but things always turn out differently than you think! The big parts before the Wedding. After the Wedding. The Boss is now sleeping. Must be a hard night! On to the final spurt... Greetings Ahab |

The exhaust system seems to fit perfectly.
I am looking forward to seeing what this looks like when it is finished. |

The exhaust is the most difficult part of the model.
But it's well solved, there's a small disk between the cones that stabilizes the whole thing. The rest is precise cutting and clean work. |
