Subaru Impreza WRC 2005

Hi
This is my first car, I’m more an airplane guy
Also my first attempt at entertaining you with my built. Hope to complete it during the Holiday break.

This model and many others is from: saturn.dti.ne.jp

It’s a 1/18 scale with both options with or without an interior, although a basic one. But a basic interior is also the reason I decided to built it his version. For exemple the roll cage is simply a triple layer of cardstock.

I print it a at my local print shop so I didn’t had much choice regarding the cardstock, I had to do with what they had. So the car body parts are on glossy 80lbs and the rest on standard 65lbs.

In the pictures attached you will see some of the errors I bumped into so far…maybe some valuable instructions are printed but they are only in Japanese.
First the parts number for the wheel wells needs to be switched left-right for the black side to be on the wheel side!
Second the seats locations are to far apart and “as is” the roll cage doesn’t fit. I had to reglued them against the transmission tunnel.
Lastly (so far) I had to shorten some of the roll cage parts (cross braces) to stay strait. Otherwise they would bent and look odd as the lower legs are squeezed in to be glued to the floor.

Merry Christmas

This is good to see. I have one of these blue Impreza models downloaded, not sure if it's this exact version or from a different year. When I was much younger I tried that white Mitsubishi FTO but was using unsuitably thin paper.

Thanks for the comments

Didn’t bump into additional errors, actually I’m impressed by the quality of the design.
All parts fits nicely. My only drawback is the instructions could have been more detailed.

Bodywork is almost completed.
Rear bumper was easy enough but the front bumper and radiator intake was another story
Again the instructions for all that is involved in front there are cramped in only two images!
The corner parts (front brake air intake?) where challenging as some fold lines where not indicated on the parts (parts A13 and A15)
The radiator intake and exhaust(?) (part D1) was also difficult. To the point where I couldn’t figure out how two «*flaps*» that I guess should be glued together but where to short to touch. I glued a strip of cardstock over both to fill the gap.
But since the whole model has such good fitting overall that I guess this difficulty was my fault not understanding what should be done correctly.

On the other hand I like the way the radiator is made. It’s a long strip folded like a double sided accordéon. On the edge of each fold is a little dab of red color that once all edges are squeezed together the letters STI (a sponsor) appear.

Next is to glue the interior to the “frame” aka bottom and wheel wells and then the body.
Will remain the wheels and tires and accessories like roof air scoops, side mirrors and rear spoilers.

Any high-performance combustion car is going to have a complicated series of shapes for all the intakes, radiator, intercooler and aerodynamic devices on the front. Come to think of it, they have become a 'styling' feature on almost everything now, including rather hilariously many EVs, which need only a tiny radiator. So well done for figuring out how this all goes together. I imagine the designer had quite a time working out the parts too.

Now completed!
A few errors here and there but I’m happy with the results for my first car.

It’s only a shame that not all the models are still available on the author’s web site. Would have like to do the Lancia Stratos.
