And How! In our daily lives we account for the destruction of many more creatures than cats could ever hope to do. And because most of this death is caused by habitat destruction those individuals can never be replaced.

All of my cats stay indoors. This is for them (cars) and for wildlife. It is a lot of work to keep them and my house clean, but it is doable and to me it is worth it. If you don't like cats, I have no problem with that, but if you come to visit you'd better keep your bedroom door closed.

I don't like snakes or spiders and do not understand why anybody would want to keep either a bird or a pig in their house. As for rodents, it would be a cruel game of chance for me to keep them in my house, no matter how strongly caged. However, I have known people who kept all those things as pets and they seemed to be otherwise fairly rational people and probably not dangerous. And by the way I totally love dogs. I don't have one right now because the house is already full of cats.

To each his own.

Thomas

This is starting to feel like the Paper Vs. Plastic thread...I agree with Thomas, on all counts actually, but mostly the bit about "To each his own." Can we just leave it at that?

What we need is a paper mouse trap.

Here are examples of partially paper mouse traps:

There is a worse enemy than cats and mice.

Silverfish.

These little buggers thrive on paper and paste/glue.

What make them worse than cats and mice? Their longevity. They breed like mad and are VERY difficult to get rid of outside of an exterminator.

I've got em bad. The apartment I live in has them and they are plentiful. My more precious books are sealed away in acid proof bags but many of my books are not.

I've lived with cats all my life. None of my cats has ever attacked or damaged any of my models--plastic, wood, paper, whatever.

Of course, you have to remember: Dogs have owners; cats have staff.

Cat attacks Starship

Only just come across this thread, so here's my contribution.

The Enterprise may have had some bad-ass opponents, but Defiant has been attacked by the ultimate foe!

Luckily that wasn't the best of my models!

Not all cats are good mousers, either. We've had a few with no hunting instinct at all, and even worse, we've had several that were really good hunters that liked to share their kills. Nothing worse that getting up at 3 am for a midnight pee and stepping on cold, wet, furry things in the dark.

You can buy cheap, non-fatal mouse traps in numerous forms. Capture the mouse and release him or her into a field or wild place far from your house. There's no need to kill the poor creature. He or she is just trying to make a living in a world overrun with humans.

Build him the swiss cheese then wait for him silently with a BB gun. Took out a couple mice that way (minus the cheese)
