It seems budget cuts to military spending is a world-wide problem. The British Army is about to cease training it's tank crews in expensive simulators. Instead, after much research and development, they've ordered a few hundred of this newly developed trainer. Apparently it's CO2 emmissions are much lower, too.

There's a Vespa with a recoilless rifle in the museum at Saumur. Apparently developed for french paratroops in the 50s/60s. I can see a new production run starting.

Regards,

Charlie

I remember seeing once where the German Army in the 20's & 30's used 3 wheeled bikes with wood and whatever superstructures to teach strategy & tactics etc. to new armor recruits when they were still under the WW I disarmament rules.

It would've been interesting to see those classes. Tho' that led to the Blitz Kreig of WW II. It wasn't primarily for cost cutting, but, it certainly worked.

A lot of air forces have used bicycles as 'formation trainers' with groups of pilots pedaling around airbases. Partly for budget reasons, and because fighter pilots are bratty children at heart.
