Good to know the story. I nearly bought a remote control blimp recently. My wife has a keen sense for detecting menacing evil in the floating form. I would hate to see what would happen.

I have one of those blimps (supposedly for my 7 year old) if flew great until it melted on the quartz light on my vaulted ceiling. I plan to rebuild it with a series of regular mylar balloons to give it a dirigible look. They really fly well and hold the helium for a long time. My held it's helium for 4 months and then I just pumped a very little bit back into it. Lots of bang for the buck.

This is the one I have.

Great story! Almost Lovecraftian in nature. Submit it to NPR; they might broadcast it (without the asterisks).

I think I need to make a clarification --

I didn't write this, it was a story I found online a long time ago. I probably should have quoted it or something....

Didn't mean to deceive anyone. Sorry....

Kinda reminds me of that ad I saw on the web somewhere, where a couple are in bed and they hear a fly / mosquito buzzing. The husband gets up (in the dark), grabs a can and start chasing the thing spraying it. The wife then turns on the light to find a black line along the walls of the bedroom. The husband grabbed spray paint instead of the bug spray. Good visual ad, looks better than it sounds!

When I was in high school, my buddy used to use a spray paint can instead of insecticide to kill bugs. The wall of his attic bedroom/workshop was spotted with splotches of paint, some with mosquitoes imbedded in them. He grew up to be a model builder at the Smithsonian . . .

Whoa - that's a big turn this thread has taken

On the subject of RC vehicles, I'm still working on convincing the wife that my son needs a gas-powered RC truck. Somehow she thinks 18 months is still too young...

I dunno -- nocturnal predatory model blimps, zapping bugs with spray paint, RC trucks for infants -- to me, it all seems to hang together. Can we crosswalk the M&M gladitorial contests?

I think we could combine the above mentioned items, adding some common or easily accesable accessories.

M&Ms and a modified paintball gun, spray paint and a lighter, and an evil RC blimp...

Hmmm, I was living in Coral Springs Florida when the Goodyear blimp crashed on the main street.... Pretty interesting looking up and saying, boy that thing is pretty low....
