One area which shouldn't be left open is the stern hull side. That piece is also missing off your draft plan
One other item you might want to include in the plan is a rectangular strip with a wood/iron split to use between the outer and inner casemate for a cut-away version. I'm going to leave one side of the casemate off so you can see inside, but that leaves the gap between the interior and exterior walls which could be filled with a suitably colored paper strip. Continuing the build, I cut out the gun ports and the pilot house observation windows with a sharpened brass tube. I'm going to leave open one side of the casemate so you can see the interior. I also doubled up the edging on the casemate. |

When you attach the HO chain to the gun port covers, what type of glue go you use to attache them with? I have located the chain that I think you showed in a thread but have not been able to attach them to the casement in such a way as they look and hang correctly. Thank you in advance for your help and assistance. Joe Joe |

OK, I added/fixed the tail gate! I will work on a cut-a way option with the suggested added parts next. Thanks Knife.

For JMR248, I usually just put a drop of PVA glue (Aleene's quick drying glue from Walmart) into the hole for the chain (drilled out hole with micro-drill) and then shove in the end of the chain using a set of small tweezers. Then place another small drop of glue on the gunport cover, and hold the chain in place for a few seconds to allow the glue to grip the chain and hold it. Then I use a fingernail clipper to trim up the end piece of the chain.
For CT, I would have had the Columbus finished by now, if you didn't show me how to work Sketchup. Now I go to sleep every night with eyes burning from staring at the computer terminal all day. |

Knife I know how that goes, I have 7 or 8 projects active and another 5 or 6 inactive right now! Plus about a dozen more I would like to start. Including a great drawing from John Wallis of the CSS Eastport, with such nice clean lines it is just begging to be made! But, I really need to get the Columbus diagrams/instructions done, and the forgotten parts added, plus the Texas project, and the White Hall vessel. All are close to being done, and then I have the Tinclads I have been working on also, until I hit a wall with the directions on that one. I thought building card models was addictive, but designing models may actually require an "intervention" to save me. May be you will see me on A&E!

Ha! You think that's a lot...I have 7 ongoing projects, plus one completed and almost ready for release. And then I have a 1.05 GB folder full of started but incomplete and inactive projects...! Could be worse!!
