Well, despite my poor modeling skills the test build came out pretty good. I cheated a bit by adding a small dowel on the inside for strength and a few BBs in the node for weight. I should have this available soon.

Corey, That is great stuff. I look forward to when you put this out. I think the dowel is a GREAT idea. ...can't wait to share this one with my Civil War reenactment folks.

I am working on a pointed end plinger for the Raine's version along with "Augusta, GA, 1864" marked fins. This will be an option in the kit, although, the Confederates had a nack for capturing actual Ketchum grenades from the Union as well.

Union troops under siege in Tennessee would roll lit heavy artillery shells down on Confederates. Later, Confederate troops would do the same thing when under siege. A 200 pound rolling bomb might not be a true hand grenade but it was effective!

The small 2 1/2 inch ball grenade was the most used bu these Ketchums and their copies were made in large numbers.

I hope to shoot these over to you Chris later today.

Chris, you might be surprised at some of the stuff used during the American Civil War. Some of it was pretty interesting and some would have never thought it was used that long ago.

The Mythbusters tested a myth that the Confederates made a rocket that could travel over a mile. The MBs actually made a rocket from CW era materials/technology and the thing worked, though its range was nowhere what the myth indicated.
