Aviation contest at the Spanish Forum

Before advertising this here I consulted Chris here and Chapuzas at the other forum, and they both gave me green light to translate and advertise the contest here.

I must clarify that I'm not the one organizing it, I'm just a regular member of the forum, and was given permission to translate the rules and advertise here.

The Spanish-Latin American forum Maquetas de Papel Maquetas y modelismo en papel is organizing its very first contest.
It's called First Contest of Aviation Models.

Dates:

The contest is open from March 21st, 2011 and ends June 30th, 2011.

Participants:

Any member of Miarroba* and who registers at the Maquetas de Papel forum can participate.
(Miarroba is a network of forums and Maquetas de Papel is a part of that network. By registering to Miarroba you can participate in any of its forums with the same username, including Maquetas de Papel.)

Categories:

There are four categories:
  1. Military aircraft until the end of 1944.
  2. Military aircraft from 1945 until today.
  3. Civilian aircraft.
  4. Aviation-related dioramas.

Rules:
  1. Any aircraft paper model can enter. By aircraft it is understood that any airplane, glider, helicopter or any other aircraft that is lift by fixed or rotor wings, used inside the earth's atmosphere, no matter if it was a production model or a special project (X-planes) can participate. No fiction or science-fiction aircraft are allowed.
  2. Any scale is allowed.
  3. No design changes can be made without the author or publisher's permission. This means: no repaints, or kitbashings (only if the designer approves). Changes that are allowed are: transparent canopies can be used instead of printed paper canopies. If the original kit doesn't have an interior you can scratch-build the interior (but if the kit already includes the interior, you must build it "as is").
  4. No additional weathering by means of any kind of post-build paint. You can only paint the white edges of any paper/cardstock/cardboard parts (like skins, wheels, etc.) and those parts that are not paper (wires, acetate, thread). But not weathering or additional paint.
  5. You can use all the necessary materials for the proper build of the model (wires, thread, acetate, etc.)
  6. Dioramas must include as main subject "aviation". Eg: aircraft carriers can not be presented, since the main subject is a ship. If in doubt, contact the administrator of the forum.
  7. To clarify the fabrication years: the model will be presented according to the year it was first put in service.
  8. You can enter the contest with an already started (but unfinished by March 21) build. If you are building an aircraft model outside Maquetas de Papel, you have to provide a link to the original thread in the other forum (you still need to start a building thread at Maquetas de Papel).
  9. You can post as many building photos as you want in your thread. However, once finished, you must post a maximum of 10 photos in any angle you wish, with a maximum size of 640X480. You cannot edit the photos in any way with any software.
  10. Each modeler can present as many models as he/she wishes simultaneously. However, any model not finished by June 30th will be disqualified and not considered for participation.

Voting:

All active members of the Maquetas de Papel fourm can vote. This means: all members who have said "hi" in the "welcome" subforum are allowed to vote.
You will vote by sending a PM to Chapuzas100 (the administrator of the forum). Voting goes from July 1st until July 7th, 2011.

You will vote by granting points to:
3 points to the best model in each category.
2 points to the second best model in each category.
1 point to the third model in each category.

And grant an additional 1 point to the model you consider the best of all the contest.

Prizes:

Prizes are not the most important thing in a contest. Having fun is.

However, there are already an amount of prizes, and some more will be added as soon as more sponsors are confirmed. Once all the sponsors and prizes are confirmed, they will assigned.

Confirmed prizes offered by sponsors are as follow:

Prizes from Modelart ( ML Paper Models: Home Page )
  • Printed kit of F-15C, including shipping costs.
  • Printed kit of P-180 Avanti, including shipping costs.

  • De Havilland Airco DH-2 (see here )
  • Bleriot XI (at 1:18). Designed by same author. Not available elsewhere.

(more prizes will be added when confirmed. Then all the prizes will be assigned)

Other rules:

Sponsors can use photos of the participant models.

Participation in this contest implies acceptance and abiding to them

Rules may be modified if necessary for the best development of the contest.

Note to all the participants:

Author Copyright is an important concern. Designers own their creations, If it weren't for them, this hobby would not exist.
That's why it is strictly prohibited to participate with a commercial kit not acquired legally.
In the same way, winners of electronic kits are expected to respect the copyrights, using them only in a personal way, and don't share/distribute the prize in any way.

That's the contest.

Don't forget that it is a Spanish forum. If you wish to register, and participate, you may need basic knowledge of the language or use Google translator to help you through the process.

If any doubts arise, you can contact the administrator of Maquetas de Papel (Chapuzas100) to solve them.
