Congratulations on your win....not because it's a paper model. Just because a model is constructed of paper does not mean it has to look like it is paper. A skilled modeler can take a kit in any medium and turn it into a contest winner. You proved that.

The plastics guys (and I'm one of them) won't be shucking their sprue any time soon. Believe it or not, many of them think it's harder to build in paper than plastic. So, bring more of your models to shows and continue to blow them away!

Congrats on the award. Well deserved. Take it easy on that shoulder, you will need it for future builds.

Folks, I've seen this model "in progress" over the course of several months, and what Jim omits to mention is that he usually makes operating paper hinges and other moving parts for his models. That field gun not only elevates, but the recoil cylinders retract! The breech block opens, and the optical sights also work. It's a truly amazing little gem.

Sure wish I could have joined you last weekend, Jim. Have you considered the SCAHMS California Show next? ;-)

David

Charles,

Over the years that I have been competing in model contests they don't commit that it is harder what I usually hear is "Are you nut's??" I think David (dto) can attest to that as well. I do have to admit that it is quite fun to hear them say "THATS Paper!!"

Jim

That models quality goes beyond the medium and enters into the "How did you miniaturize the original one" quality. I could see someone in plastic finding it quite daunting to make something like that. I know I could absolutely never make something like that!
