OTDAEBT Revisited

Did Anyone Ever Actually Build That CONTEST 2
I such a good time with Old Troll's contest last year. I thought I would host another one. Sometimes it's good to build some of these old kits so we can appreciate the new ones even more.

Contest Rules

1. Complete construction of any Maly Modelarz model from 1957 to 2000. (sorry, none of the newer computer redraws)

2. Construction of the model must be documented in the form of a build thread posted on this website. Your thread must be titled "OTDAEABT 2 - Maly Modelarz <insert name of model>" - for example "OTDAEABT 2 - Maly Modelarz ISU-152", and must contain at least five photos showing various stages of construction. Contest will run from now until June 30, 23:59:59 PST.

3. Entries will be judged by forum members by PM. Judging will remain open for 2 weeks after the end of contest so members may cast votes.

Anyone interested in donating prizes please PM me.

Good Luck. I look forward to the builds.

This contest is primarily for the amusement of the forum members and is not intended to disrespect Maly Modelarz who has always made topnotch models using the technology and materials available at the time.

Totally, irrevocably, IN. I too, had way too much fun last year and I've got more MM kits than I did last year!

Hmmmm....I don't see how we can have "OT" in the title unless we have "OT" in the contest! Now where are all my old MM kits??? Oh wait - I mailed them all - guess I'll have to check with PaperModelStore - LOL.

I'll be trying one of the following:

English Electric P1B Lightning MM #1/74 -OR- Breguet XIX B-2 MM #4/87

My first choice would be the Lightning but I'll have to see how bad the paper is before my final decision...I should receive them early next week.

I think I'll try the MM Tiger Ausf H1 4-5/98 - another contest whore after "Free Model #4" at Zealot. The Tiger is designed by Marian Sobel (Halinski's armour designer until recently) and looks like a simplified Halinski Tiger.

A point of rules clarification - where the original kit paper has deteriorated to the point where it would be impossible to build is it acceptable to build from scan provided evidence is provided that the builder owns the original model. I was thinking about the MM SU-100 but the paper on my copy has become very brittle over the years.

Another clarification please - the frames on the original MM armour models are often very weak - is it acceptable to add strengthening parts to the frame?

Mmmm...better buy new blades for my compass cutter - LOTS of roadwheels in the Tiger.

Regards,

Charlie

That was my question as well, Charlie. I've got a number of old MM kits that the paper quality is old, bad and brittle. So can we use scans...please?? (If we show evidence of owning the original)
Also, how about modifying the kit? I've got a couple of early armor kits I'd consider, but only if I can use scans, layering and painting! Is that a possibility?

Maybe this is just the thing I need to force me to actually finish a model.

I will build this little beauty from 1999.
