By using the term "airframe" I'm assuming you'd want to limit the contest to the fixed wing aircraft selection?

haha, true that. I think, just to limit the contest, yes. Lets just keep it to fixed winged planes for now. Maybe sometime in the future we could do one for everything else...

Barry,

I am thinking about allowing everything they have, the buildings, aircraft, light towers

It is the best way to entice as many people to participate, and I can create specific sub forums for each genre.

Rick

For whoever is interested, this is the FG helicopters page:
https://www.fiddlersgreen.net/shop/c...licopters.html

And since I designed 11 of them, I'm kinda partial to broken wing aircraft.

My idea for customization was limited to: interiors, glazing, detailed engines and landing gear, and rigging. Stuff like that. Vacuformed canopies should be allowed.

The idea is to show somebody new to FG what can be done from stock, with basic extras. No formers, unless provided or needed to add an interior, no separated control surfaces, unless it comes with the kit.

I want somebody to see the pics, and say "Wow, those FG models are better than I thought, well worth the money to buy them."

I see your point, but it's a pity to limit the customizing so much, especially since FG models benefit so much from additional work. How about the contest has a couple of levels; "improved stock" versions to include the limits you suggest, and a "highly customized"level for recolors and more elaborate changes and additions. I mean, if the purpose is to inspire people about FG models, shouldn't we be demonstrating the full range of what can be done, if possible? Chip often supplies B&W versions for recolors, shows aluminum can, foam and other versions of builds from the original patterns and seems to promote having as much fun with the kits as possible, doesn't he?
