Clave does some great work! His imagination is un-limited!
I've told him about paper models in the past and he might just might appreciate having a 3D version of one of his drawings. |

The IPMC fantasy plane was already a consideration
but it falls into the same area as these "corporate" fantasy paint schemes. Theres a reason why I don't offer a Jelly Belly sponsored P51 Mustang. Because Jelly Belly is an existing company that carefully protects and restricts the use of their image and logo. They already deal in franchising and royalty costs and corporate sponsorships. (And I asked them...they said "no way") On the flip side...I contacted both Bud Granley and the owners of Lickety Split who have both offered generously to help with the production of these kits! (They have both sent me photos as design research.) These profiles are pretty cool. I've seen some great ideas. Fan art is one thing...artistic license within original art is a tolerable element. But to use the whole corporate or company theme as the selling point for a commercial item would require special permissions and/or royalty costs. As scale modelers we generally get away with the historical element...like recreating a wartime aircraft, with proper insignia and other markings... even though there are a lot of copyrighted elements. The US Air Force insignia for example, is a copyrighted item. But large scale model production warrants more attention from the owners of any copyrighted elements...as does commercial usage of modern day corporate themes. Thats why big plastic companies pay royalties for just about everything... obviously I am producing kits on a much smaller scale, my profits barely cover my hobby expenses...but I don't want to push the boundaries...don't poke the bear! I might be able to do a specially decorated Mustang ...a paper model themed idea? Something that pays tribute to the IPMC, but doesn't actually infringe on them?

Dave,
I doubt that you will infringe on anything we do at IPMC Rick

so, I got this thing takin' up space on my Desk now!...
what do I do with it?! I guess its gonna have to go into the Air Racer folder. ... I did a quick test build to check the alignment of the artwork. No issues. Its just the skins...no formers...no cockpit...no extra parts. And, same with the Wing. I designed the proper "clipped" wing for this plane. And test fitted the end cap part. Its pretty simple...one part, no tabs, no extras. Just takes a little patience to line it up, glue one side...when its dry, glue the other side. And do your best to keep it clean!

Here's an update to Racer #5. Been shooting it with layers or Dupli-color acrylic enamel automotive clear to seal it so when I glue the fillets to it I won't ruin the graphics.
