Are you sure you are not looking at the wrong one?
This SNJ6, manufactured in 1944, is not Grace 8 ...even though it lists the same civilian code (N4RC): http://www.warbirdregistry.org/texan...-bu111957.html According to this website, Grace 8 has a 1958 production date and production number... Aircraft Data N4RC, 1958 North American SNJ-6 C/N 111957 I assumed that maybe they were "recreating" a WW2 SNJ with the paint scheme as many historic aircraft are. (The original aircraft long lost) But when I saw the facebook statement, it made me curious.

Rebuilt and re-certified maybe?

No, the one I found had a construction/serial number 112131. I based my initial search from the registration N73RR seen on Grace 8

Upon further review, and to add to the confusion, it appears registration N73RR has belonged to a considerable number of T-6/SNJ aircraft? Miss Everything, Two of Hearts, Miss Evelyn Rose, Team Dutchman.

Here's another piece that shows Grace 8 history
Aerial Visuals - Airframe Dossier - North AmericanT-6/AT-6/SNJ Texan / Harvard, s/n 111957 USN, c/n 121-42670, c/r N4RC It shows constructed 1944, with the airworthiness cert date of 1959 Also provides a picture of the Grace 8 artwork on the starboard side

Well, I've not seen N73RR up to this point, so I don't know where you got that.
But I do like the "circa 1944 build 44-81948." and then converted to SNJ6. Redesignated, recertified in 1958 makes sense. This has no bearing on the kit...the kit is done. Just curious. Got the Grace 8 decal from their facebook page earlier...not sure when it was applied because its not in older race photos...but I think I'll put it on regardless.

Hey Dave just an idea on this one maby it could be done and packaged with Racer #5 since this is what it became when it crashed. What's your thoughts?

Red Baron is a very different plane.
Its a purpose built racer...modified fuselage, clipped wings, modified radiator housing and air scoop, modified tail, modified canopy and cockpit, modified engine cowling, twin screw and so forth. I'm not getting into those. Theres just too many physical modifications and everyone is different, so its not like I can put out a few models from the same template.. I'v managed to make up two of the clipped wing mods, but that about as far as I want to go modifying the Mustangs. ... I think I'm done with Racers for this year ...gotta catch up on the Tanks, and the other planes, and koolwheelz, and, and... lol Next year, I am thinking about doing Air Racers Volume 2. So, save up your ideas and hit me with them at that time.

Ok Dave after 2 cans of glossy clear, a few dry sanding sessions, a wet sanding session and a buffing with steel wool and the addition of a paper pilot figure she is finally done. One very interesting feature of this kit is that I put magnets in the spinner so that the prop and spinner are re moveable for traveling. Hope the effort was worth it.
