ah...so being a British Gun...there may be a different term?
now I'll go look it up. Regardless, thanks Don...and thanks kingjason for your praise! ... oh no lol don"t look up redleg on wikipedia! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redleg ... uh oh dictionary.com has something else in mind: https://www.dictionary.com/browse/redleg ... [quote from history of the redleg term] In the 1940s, as in World War I, once again the uniform lost most of its color due to wartime emergency. The new regulation, AR 600-200, provided the Army with a dress uniform, unfortunately for Artillerymen, with the yellow stripe for all ranks. so...yellowleg? ... A Plank - a member of the (British) Royal Artillery or Royal Pioneer Corps

This might help:https://www.abtryassoc.org/misc_pages/redlegs.html
I guess old traditions die hard, we still call other Artillerymen "Redlegs", and remind other disciplines that we are the King of Battle. Redleg is also a little more acceptable then the other nicknames for my old job, like Fister, or the eyes of death. Regardless, I really like the howitzer. |

Talking of traditions - gunners have their own patron saint - Saint Barbara - feast day 4th December. I guess with the reliability of artillery pieces in olden times having your own saint was probably a smart move.

Limber tire treads
Dave, i am just finishing up the limber and must admit made a few errors, but overall my mistakes, not your kit....great once again .
question about the tire tread, there are two tires and two different treads? Not a big deal if i have to reprint another page, but why the two different treads? are one for each tire, or was it different models that were put into production.? i wish to complete as per the instructions but didnt see anything explaining the choice? hope this makes sense thanks |

Correct.
read the room...err, the page! lol Parts page states "contains parts to build one wheel". You must print the page twice to get parts for two wheels. This gives you two pairs of paper treads = choice of the different treads. I saw both used (in vintage photos). Thats why I included both.
