2021 Holiday Model from Dave's Card Creations
haha I asked (over on facebook/davescardcreations) if fans would prefer
a new Koolwheelz model, or a new Holiday model, for this year end?! It wasn't meant as a rhetorical question, but I had assumed what the answer would be, given that I get requests all year long for access to my free Holiday models, and usually this time of year, I get extra requests (for the Holiday models). But, to date, I've only seen one, maybe two comments, about a new Holiday model and I was a little disappointed at that ...thats what inspired me to ask the question.... To my surprise, there hasn't been a resounding vote for a new Holiday model! lol I've already got a few Koolwheelz models waiting for release, so it was an easy alternative to suggest. But I never had any plan to release a Koolwheelz model in place of a dedicated Holiday model. And as always, I have had a few Holiday model ideas...and I've been working on at least one of them. In fact, if things go well next week... stay tuned. ................................. On the 15th, I will open up the Holiday Models library (past Holiday models) for download as I do every year...they will be available until just after Xmas. You have to visit (and register) my forum www.papermodelforum.com - Index to access the (free) Holiday Models archive.

Earlier this year, lukke49 posted (on the papermodelers forum) some scratch built car models he created.
These models were linked to a scratch built model he started way back in 2015. That earlier model was inspired by a 1928 German tin toy car that had a Christmas theme. The Tipp & Company Christmas/Santa Car. Having always had a love for old tin toys, I was very interested in the project and the original tin toy car. And its Christmas themed exterior gave me the perfect idea for this years free Holiday model! After some research into the toy, I decided not to recreate a scale model of the original toy, but create a hanging ornament inspired by the vintage toy. My hanging ornament is much smaller than the original tin toy...about 1/3 the size... and while I haven't copied everything about the original tin toy, I have retained its basic look. I put most of my effort into reproducing the highly detailed lithographed paint scheme that features all kinds of period Christmas Toys. Some not quite so politically correct I might add! lol While a few examples of the original toy exist today in Museums and private collections, unfortunately there are very few photos of every angle and every detail of the paint scheme. And the photos I could find were not very high resolution. I did my best to recreate most of the toys featured on the toy car, but some I had to guess and/or invent. Since it isn't meant to be an accurate scale model of the original toy, I have ignored certain obvious details of the toy. So, for 2021 I present my free Holiday model: the Santa Car Happy Hanging Tree Ornament Access to the ornament is through my paper model forum (www.papermodelforum.com - Index), its in the dedicated Holiday Models section. Its a two page Model with assembly instructions included along with a little history on the Tipp & Co. Tin Toy.
