Here's another example of one of the Race Car game cards with hot rod artwork.
This card shows you how the cards will look in the game, with "Race Car" at the top. All game cards have a title header to make them easier to handle in the game. All cards have the same backside (the old drag strip and christmas tree image). ![]()

Great artwork Dave. Takes me back to those wonderful early drag magazine years. But I guess that is the point for us geezers.

I've ordered some test parts of the KoolWheelz game.
I need to get a look at artwork, printing, design, etc, and road-test some of the components. So whats all this got to do with paper models you say? Well, when I started, I just wanted to make a board game about drag racing. Vintage drag racing...late 60s, 70s. And then I got the idea to tie it in...somehow...to my paper models, since I had already done some classic drag cars in my Koolwheelz models. [the crowd cheers] The game uses cards and dice ...and a drag-strip "gameboard" to bring the drag racing to life in 3D. I came up with the idea to make the drag strip big enough to accommodate toy cars. Cars like Hot Wheels and small diecast toys...and of course, my Koolwheelz models are close to the same size. So, you could use those too...I will also suggest them in the game instruction booklet. But as work continued, I felt less enthusiastic about the limited number of related Koolwheelz models. I only really have about 6 vintage drag racer models. So I decided I needed to create some new models! yay!...but maybe, just for the game? [the crowd murmurs unhappily] I also needed to make stuff simpler... my current Koolwheelz models might be too advanced for game players, who are not paper modelers. I still wanted tie things to my Koolwheelz models. I had already decided to use the KoolWheelz name for the game. So while working on the various race car artworks for the game cards, I got the idea to create some new KoolWheelz models based on some of those cars in the game. But these would be exclusive race car models tied just to the game. They would just be for buyers of the game, available after purchase, through my game store website. [the crowd boos and hisses!]

I love the cars in the promo shot
![]() But most of those won't lend themselves well to an Easy-Build conversion. I am very interested in seeing what you come up with

[Recap] So while working on the various race car artworks (for the game cards),
I got the idea to design some new KoolWheelz models recreating some of those game cars. These would be exclusive paper models tied directly to the game. And they would only be for buyers of the game, available after purchase. One of the game 'extras' available at my game store website. - But before that, I had already decided to design some much simpler models. Models I could actually include within the game. In the Instruction booklet, will be two sheets with 8 models that can be scanned and reprinted. The sheets will also be available as a PDF download (once the game is purchased) ready to print. These are boxy, much simpler models, that a novice should have very little trouble with. I must remember, this a card/board game for gamesters first, whether they be paper modelers or not. I will be included detailed instructions on how to build the models, tools needed, etc. As someone already suggested, I did think about including car cut-outs or 'standees' in the game, but this would have added another production cost to the final game. [the crowd quiets again] I thought about this a lot...I'd love to share all the models with everyone, but that kind of defeats the purpose...'Exclusive' has to stand for something. And the simple models included with the game, as well as the Exclusives, are an incentive for buyers of the game. So it wouldn't be fair to customers. For now, I'd still like to share some photos of the models. These are the simple models included with the game. 4 Funny Car style, and 4 Stocker/Gasser style cars. Although they may look like cars you recognize, I did not go for accuracy or any definitive make or model. In fact the 4 funnies, and 3 of the stockers, are built using the exact same boxy template. Only the yellow gasser is a modified design. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Once again, these are the "simple" Drag Racer models that will be included with the game.
Two sheets of the Instruction booklet to be copied or scanned and reprinted. Plus a full page of assembly instructions aimed at the newbie to paper modeling. The 2 model sheets are also a ready-to-print PDF that can be downloaded after purchase of the game. The models use the same templates making it easier for the novice. The funny cars are one template, the three stockers are another. The yellow gasser is adapted from the stocker template. ![]() ![]() ![]()
