Racer X sounds familiar...but I really don't know what it is.
(and thats usually a clue that I'm not gonna be too interested...lol)
If its got anything to do with Speedracer, forget it!

How come you guys didn't watch, and like, the same shows as me?! lol

Its better if you send me suggestions in email.
And include some reference material, so I don't have to go hunting.
Then...if it interest me...I might do something in paper.
Best I can offer.

It's almost getting to the point where Dave could consider a KoolWings collection. The Batwing, Jetsons Car and the Galileo would make for a good start.

Would anyone else here care to see a KoolTraxx collection to go with Rommel's Rod?

Oops, you posted while I did

I define "wheels" as a "vehicle"...your "ride".
So, to me, "kool wheelz" is any type of "cool ride".

Doesn't have to have wheels to be a ride.
Just haz to be cool.

And since the Jetson's Car and the Galileo don't technically have "wings",
...they fit better into "koolwheelz". LOL

I do however like the "kooltraxx" idea.
kooltanx

Except for the fact that "Traxx" is already a toy line!
And I have enough confusion now, with a "hot wheels" connection!!!

sheesh, in 60 koolwheelz vehicles, there are only two...maybe three hot wheels related builds!!
stop with the hot wheels connection already!!!
lmao

I got a request to do a KoolWheelz version of the "Apollo Corvettes".
This request was specifically about some real cars.

But I've seen discussions before claiming astronauts were all driving free Corvettes
in the 1960s, after they went on missions.

The whole Astronaut Corvette thing is a bit of a mixed up story...and a legend that never happened really.

The astronauts didn't all drive Corvettes.
...and their cars weren't all the same colour.
John Glenn owned a new station wagon after his mission.

And they didn't get free cars for being astronauts.
Although NASA employees did get special lease deals for a short time through certain Dealers.

But the Apollo 12 crew did get to drive three specially painted Gold and Black 1969 Corvettes.
They were the only crew to drive matching cars.
(I believe the paint scheme was designed by astronaut Alan Bean)
The cars were a special lease deal through a local Florida Chevy dealership.
So, the astronauts only had them for one year.

These Corvettes were 1969 models... my Mako Shark II model is a bit different.
So its a lot more work than just repainting an existing model.
I don't really want to do that work.
...and I don't really have an interest in adding these to my collection.
At least not right now.

Interesting idea though.
I'm glad I was reminded of this.
Nice to see one of our younger members found out about these 50 year old cars!

These guys get to be strapped to a million tons of horsepower (hooh hooh hooh)
and get to visit the moon,
and then come home and are given shiny new Corvettes.

It takes me back to the mid 70s,
watching a young Steve Martin doing his stand-up comedy routine

wearing a bright white suit, strumming a banjo, bologna in his shoes
and a rubber chicken glued to his head...

and he laughs at the audience
and sings...
"I get paid for doing....this!"
