...
I came across the following video today, not sure how old it is.

...apparently this guy bought the original (No.2) Monkeemobile at the Barrat Jackson Auction back in 2008.
He bought it from George Barris who owned it at the time.
I guess George sold it because of the stink that happened a couple of years back.

See, Barris bought the car real cheap...it was in need of restoration.
His shop (not him personally) restored the car and made quite a few (acceptable) changes.
But then, as he often does, he slaps his own badge on the car and starts touring it around as a "Barris Kreation".
Taking credit, as he usually does, he got a lot of flak from people who knew that he was not the designer of this car
and was criticized for not crediting Dean Jeffries and those who originally built the car.
I remember some of the videos and articles that made the rounds at that time.

Anyway, there is some question as to whether this car was ever used in the TV show itself.
It was built as the show car...I saw it personally back in the late 60s...and it may have been used in one of the TV commercials
for the Monkees show...but never actually used in the series (like the No.1 car).

Still, its a very unique automobile and I'm sure a very cool car to own.
This guy paid almost $400,000 for it!
But I love the fact that he drives it!!!!

A while back I did Dave's Tardis and had a splotch problem that was easily fixed by printing up a second roof on a second print of the Tardis for myself. I gave the first one to a friend. As I work on projects, I usually get 'solutions' for problems as I am working. Not this time.

The project:

I'm doing Dave's Tardis, but with an opening door. Easy enough. Then I re-sized Johan Kruger's Tardis interior walls, floor and ceiling (Doctor Who Tardis | Desktop Wargames), but I do believe the door opens inward, and it isn't a double door as Johan has it. I would like to do an LED bulb behind the door and set the whole thing on a base hiding a button battery, so that you can hit the light and see the interior.

My Problem:

LED is three letters only, so you cannot search the forum for it. Light or Lighting brings up too many hits. Can anyone point me to a quick tutorial?

Here's where I am at so far

The Tardis is assumed to be loosely based on a Mark 2 Call Box.
Second design of the full Call Box.
http://www.the-telephone-box.co.uk/kiosks/tardis/

The Tardis has also gone through many variations,
but all looking similar to the Mk.2 box.

The Call Boxes were actually made of pre-cast concrete
with a single Teak opening door panel.

The windows also opened, tilting inwards.

I'm not sure what the intention of the entire box was.
It evolved from the eight sided pill box that original just housed an emergency telephone.
Maybe it was a place to store other emergency equipment?

I think the door original opens outwards on a real Call Box.
As do the Phone box door, and the First Aid door.

In the TV show version, an inwards opening door would help block the view
into the Box...since it wasn't really a Time Machine. shhhhhh

TARDIS don't need no wheels!
That would just slow it down...?

I used to like them. I thought they were kinda cute. I've occasionally been tempted to bring one in for restoration, but have you seen the prices they want for them?

Then I delivered a Heinkel Cabinroller up the M1 motorway for a mate. Never again ... biggest Adrenalin rush I've ever had ... oooh them 18 wheelers are big from down there, and they are faster than you, so they instantly want to overtake ... blowing me away onto the hard shoulder.

There's quite a few Bubble-Car paper models available. See my old thread at ... Wee Beasties anyone?

I could be tempted by the Toyota Sera though but they are notoriously unreliable and hard to get parts for. not surprising really as it was a 'Concept' show car, that was only ever built for release in Japan. Over 100 of them somehow ended up in UK though.

Eventually I even got bored with making the models. I might pick up the thread again one day, but the 'To do' list is way too long at the moment.
