Thank you Dave for another supercool Koolwheelz model. I'm always impressed at how you can boil complicated objects down to the basics and still come up with a model that closely resembles the original. Good job!

Still fiddlin' around with new KoolWheelz projects.
I am actually working on four different ideas (from my to-do list) while I rest from my Tutor Jet model! But I got a bit sidetracked four days ago, watching some Drag Racing... and I realized that the great John Force was not on my to-do list. How can I have a KoolWheelz collection of my favorite rides and not have a John Force car in the mix?! I've always been a fan of John Force, after seeing his early interviews. The sheer energy that comes out of that man...why he never marketed an Energy Drink, is beyond me. Sixteen times he has won the NHRA Top Fuel Funny Car Championship and now his Daughters have won him two more Championships! Amazing. I couldn't settle on just one car...so I picked one of the well known Mustangs and did a simplified version. No, I didn't bother with all the very tiny decals and sponsor marks. Just too much at this tiny scale. I stuck to the biggest and most obvious graphics. So please don't be too picky about that, or point out that something is wrong for that year of car, etc. Its not supposed to be that accurate. Yes, I plan on using the template to do another Mustang Funny Car. That way you will have a pair for your Drag race Diorama. I just haven't decided on a team/paint scheme yet. You can find the John Force Top Fuel Mustang in the Racerz section.

Thanks Dave! John Force is one of the greats. I have watched many of his races.
And yes, Don "The Snake" Prudhomme and Tom "Mongoose" McEwen would be another great pair that had a very storied and public rivalry. From an article on Don Prudhomme racing website... "In 1970, McEwen talked Mattel into producing 1:64 scale Snake and Mongoose cars as part of its Hot Wheels die-cast toy line — and into becoming drag racing’s first sponsor outside the automobile industry." Kind of Kool Wheelz-ish. Jus' sayin"

Looks great, Dave. You're making my dream of paper LSR and NHRA models a reality. The first time I saw John Force race a top fuel funny car on TV, he piloted an all white car with no markings of any kind. It must have been very early in his NHRA career. He was amusing to watch in the interview afterwards because he was so animated and excited. You couldn't help but wonder if the guy wasn't addicted to more than one kind of speed. At the time I thought he was a nutter, and never imagined that he'd turn out to become of the all time greats.

That is awesome Dave. Funny cars definetly are Kool subjects. A Sox & Martin '67 Belvedere would fit great in your Racerz section too... just another idea.

Ray ...as Jeremy would ask..."are you now mental?"
Not only did I own the very first Snake and Mongoose Race Set from Hot Wheels, but that yellow 'Cuda was my dream car growing up. If you are a fan of that era of Drag Racing, you must see the Snake & Mongoose movie. Snake & Mongoose - In Select Theaters Now I think it might be one of the BEST Drag Racing films I have ever seen. And thats a very select group for me. The movie bought tears to my eyes (honestly...I was moved) when the Hot Wheels decorated racers are first revealed. And yes, every car you see is real...the originals. And every drag race is real...all original footage. Even some of the actors aren't even actors. The film is purposely done in a special colour look ....it looks exactly like the colour Hot Rod magazines of the sixties. The story, is the history of Prudhomme and McEwan throughout their Drag Racing careers and its very good. Apparently very accurate ...Prudhomme and McEwan are actually in it!). And quite interesting, never a dull moment. For a Drag Racing fan, I highly recommend it. But even if you are just a car fan, or a Hot Wheels fan...

Quote:
I was never a fan of old Plymouths...until the 70 'Cuda came along. After that, I took another look at the early fastback Barracudas. I'd love to own a '67, '68 or '69. Even the '64 is sweet. I think Sox & Martin ran a Barracuda before the 'Cuda. I could definitely see doing a Barracuda model. Especially if its a Hurst Hemi! Now THIS is a wheelstand!
