What? No, there wasn't that many.
Even if you include background stuff, there probably wasn't that many vehicles in the film! lol
And background stuff is not of any importance to me.

We're talking about Syd Mead designed stuff.
According to Gene Winfield himself only 25 "cars" were produced by him.
Various "armadillos"(vans) and the various "spinners".
He was commisioned to build 27 (I think it was)...
A fire put him behind schedule, along with limited budget...
some cars were repurposed or redesigned.

There are other vehicles on the streets.
Vintage cars and such.
Even Winfield put some of his vintage cars in there.

Then there are models of vehicles, like the small scale Spinners and flying cars.
Also the Off-World blimp.

I am not aware of "76 vehicles designed and built" for the film.

That was what Gene told me when I spoke with him over 10 years ago. Also, there were several shops employed in the production of the cars.

Well I'd say your memory is wrong (or Gene's) since there are numerous sources,
including plenty of videos/interviews with Winfield about the work he did for Blade Runner,
and who supplied the vehicles.
According to Syd Mead himself, Gene Winfield "did all the vehicles"...18 or 20 of them*.
(We know he did multiple Armadillos and Spinners in various looks)

Maybe Gene said he's built 76 Movie/TV vehicles over the years?
Because he's done a lot of stuff for various Movies and TV.
Obviously he didn't design them all...many he was just commissioned to build.

Watch the StarCarz section for the new Spinners any second!.

...
Forgot to mention, in case you didn't know,
the Spinner(s) are another set of fabulous Movie vehicles
designed by the great Gene Winfield.
In fact, Gene built about 25 vehicles for Blade Runner.

Gene Winfield designed and built so many great Movie and TV vehicles.
Including the Star Trek Space Shuttle Galileo!

He built three fullsize Spinners and a fourth for interior shots.
One of the Spinners was just tubular aluminum for the take-off sequences.
Its the only one that had the finished and detailed underside with clear floor panels.
It was launched/hoisted on cables.

Fun factoid...the hoisting cables are still visible in the final print of the film,
since the budget limited post-production work.
They had hoped that the pouring rain would help hide the cables on camera.
It didn't.

I wouldn't worry about it. I loved "true lies", I watched it three times. I knew they had to use a really large crane, and I couldn't figure out how it was hidden.

That gravelly voice really got to me.
Ellen Barkin was the candy in movies like Buckaroo Bonzai.
Although she has starred in many top notch films of her own.
Sea of Love with Al Pacino was really good.
She is of course, 62 years old now
and is a typical Hollywood starlet resorting to a little plastic surgery and makeup.
But she seems to be doing a good job of holding it all together.

okay, okay...so I sidetracked....its all kool...wheelz...
models...really nice models...
okay, back to cars

...
just printed out a full colour Jet Car and I'll start building it tonight.

Yes, its referred to as the "Buckaroo Bonzai Jet Car"...even though its built on a Ford F350 Pickup truck chassis.
Looks like part of a Tow-Truck body under all that extra stuff in the rear.

I'm also trying to work on the latest Tutor Jet model
so I'll report on the Jet Car as soon as I can.

Impressive paper model!

Looks so real!
