HaHa I appreciate the ideas!...

but I think I should have chosen a different name for my car collection! lol
...my mistake I guess
My "HOT" Wheels have nothing to do with Mattel Hot Wheels (at least not directly).

I think I will have to think about swapping out the name.

My collection is cars and customs that have had an impact on me during my life.
The Deora I saw in person, way back in "67, '68...(and it just happened to be one of the first Hot Wheels I owned).

LiveWire was, as I remember, my first Mattel Sizzler.
(The Sizzlers probably had a bigger impact on me than the original Hot Wheels)

I do appreciate the Mattel Hot Wheels suggestions,
but unfortunately I'm not that interested in making card models from them.
For me, its has a little more to do with the real vehicles themselves.

Danger! Will Robinson... Danger! OCD kicking in! Danger!!

Now you've gone and done it!!

From this moment will will not refer to them as [HOT Wheels] anymore!
It is now the "airdave's Kool Wheelz Collection"

All logos, Model Pages, Models, web links, etc have been modified!
LOL
If you have one of the originals...please destroy it.
(I'll know, if you don't)
...and download the new and improved version!

alright. but hotwheels is an iconic name, and it fits the scale of the models you make. its ok if you dont want to make the swoopy do, but i like the simplicity of your models, and i figured if anyone could make it simple and still look awesome, it would be you.

I just had a great idea which needs some experimentin' (pics soon as I can):

I found once at my local supermarket (WalMart) a toy kit that allowed you to create your own Hot Wheel using a baked clay. Included were several bases that were the bottom amd wheel and axle assemblies.

My idea: rather than using the clay, simply superglue one of Daves Kool Wheels bodies to the base (after removing the bottom and wheels of his model):D

-or-

Take a set of really cheap generic hot wheel type cars, disassemble them to get the base, and ...superglue one of Daves Kool Wheelz to it.

I'll let you know how it turns out.

haha more Hot Wheels! you guys are determined to get me in trouble with Mattel! aren't you?! lol

you will have to scale the model to fit the wheelbase of your "chassis" but I guess it could work.
Most of my "Kool Wheelz" so far, have been larger than Hot Wheels scale.
Even Hot Wheels are not consistent in scale, so I guess I'm okay?

I haven't settled on an actual scale, I have just been creating them at around the same size...whatever size seems buildable.
My first Ramone was almost exactly a Hot Wheels scale...but was too finicky to build.
It also looked small against all previous models, so I bumped it up about 20%.

good luck murphy!

Hotwheels is so iconic that the name is used for matchbox and off-brand toy cars as well as the official hotwheels cars.

actually "dinky toy" was (up till recently) the most widely used term to refer to small metal toy cars.

I can remember constantly correcting people on the fact that my toys were "Hot Wheels", "Johnny Lightnings", "Corgis", "Ertls"...."not dinky toys!!! arrrgh!"

But then again, I had a ton of Dinky's too!!
being English, I grew up with Dinkys and Corgis.

Which reminds me...theres a couple of Dinky's I want to turn into card models! woohoo!
thanks for the memories!!!
