All of the images I can find show your insignia correct. Unless you were going for the
cartoon version.

Great work!
Quote:
Its still a great kit. The structure is sound and your directions are well illustrated. When I work with youth, these directions are the difference between interest and frustration; great job! I wish I was more competent in computer design. I'd like to help. I still think that this kit is a great contribution but if you ever want to make a 2.0 I'll be glad to help out, as I have with others. Just let me know. Thanks much for the kit as it looks good and appears cleanly designed, as your kits usually are. You are the master of clean, easy design; a indicator of real skill. Thanks again for making it and I am already plotting out a build! Ps. I did a little fiddling with Galileo 7 and will soon post my ideas. If I hadn't expressed it before, that was a nice, tightly designed little kit! Thanks Dave, The DC

Slightly delayed, but finally here...the next Koolwheelz release for 2018 is
the Landmaster from the 70s movie Damnation Alley. This is another model that was suggested/requested a long time ago...and I said no. I saw Damnation Alley (back in the 70s) and I didn't really think much of it. Last year I decided to rewatch the film...and I did a little research. Including reading up on the Landmaster vehicle that features in the film. The fact that the vehicle was designed and built by Dean Jeffries made it a lot more interesting for me. No, the movie is not that bad....in fact, its quite okay if you don't expect too much of it. There's one crappy scene involving badly superimposed giant Scorpions, but other than that its an okay sci-fi. Unfortunately it comes off like a "made for TV" film, which at that time, wasn't necessarily a good thing. I'm talking about low budget...or the impression of low budget (even though this was a theatrical release). The film story relies heavily on the Landmaster...a real (custom built) vehicle. Probably cost half of the film's budget ($350,000) but it was well worth it. I give it credit for being another of the last few films and TV shows to have real functional custom built vehicles in them. The articulated Landmaster was not just some modified bus or truck...it was built from the ground up. With its rotating tri-wheel drive system and hydraulically articulated steering swivel, it was indeed a very unique vehicle. It could even go amphibious! ...although it didn't in the film. But even after watching the movie again, I was still reluctant to do a Koolwheelz version because its a very large vehicle. This would mean reducing the scale further than other Koolwheelz models and I was concerned about how small parts would need to be (to get the model to fit on to one sheet). I was also concerned about the complicated wheel/drive system and how to represent it in paper and still keep it simple enough to build...as few parts as possible. We're talking 12 wheels! But, after some head scratching, I eventually came up with a plan and started free designing. Things went extremely well and I made only a few changes before I managed to come up with a simplified model that worked. Yes...I was right...to keep the model at a respectable Koolwheelz scale... there was no way to keeep the model at one page ...and the scale would also limit the complexity of the wheel and drive system. So I had to come up with an even more over-simplifed design for those parts. In the end, it turned out much better than I had planned...and now I am glad I tackled it. No, it hasn't made the film any better...but it has added another very kool Star Car to my collection. This is a two page model with quite a few parts...and I have created an Assembly Sheet for it. Look in the Assembly Diagrams area of my forum for that download. For the model itself, download it from the Koolwheelz Star Carz section (of my website).

Wow! This takes me back!
I can still remember Paul Winfield, crawling into a car, covered in flesh eating roaches, around the time he would be foisted with Ceti Eels by Khan. Who say's character acting isn't tough work? :-)

Glad it made you happy Tom!
Hopefully all will enjoy. I wanted to comment on the paint finish of the Landmaster. Looking at photos, it appears to have been painted (over metal) with a silver-gray(?) metallic finish. It appears throughout the film in a very dusty and dirty state. I think its only clean for the first few scenes before it heads out into the apocalyptic wasteland. Recreating the metal/silver look was easy enough. But I originally experimented with a muddied, dusty, dirty look... and I didn't like it. I mostly didn't like how it came out the printer (compared to my artwork on the screen). And I realised that I can't control how it will print for others. Thats when I decided to stick with the clean, "showroom" look. I'll leave it up to you to add some dry mud and dirt if you like!
