Oh, wow. It just hit me that the old rural Lutheran school that my folks converted into their Retirement Villa was 100 years old last year. About 15 years ago, the last schoolmaster there was visiting the neighboring village and his daughter brought him by to see the place. Tears. He was so happy that it hadn't been torn down.
Okay, the forum isn't allowing me to attach a photo. Maybe later, if I remember

Another way Canada is more like the US (than you think)...
obviously this is aimed at those southern Americans who honestly believe Canada is covered in snow most of the time. lol The weather system in Texas is affecting Canada as it usually does... we've had a bit of heatwave in Ontario for a couple of weeks (in the 30sC, thats the 90sF for you heathens) but British Columbia is facing some serious heat. They have been in the higher 30s are are preparing for this weekend and next week when temps are expected to hit 40 to 45 degrees! Thats Death Valley temperatures!! (120F) I live in southern Ontario which is actually on the same parallel as northern end of California. We don't usually get that hot, but we have our moments. Yes, we get some pretty intense weather in the winter (snow and sub-zero temps) but we also get 6-9 months of mild to extremely hot and humid weather. Thats why Snowbirds can handle Florida. So, for those of you that think Canada is snow shoes and muckalucks, its not. At least not in the areas where most people live. Now, if you want to head a few hours North.... I'm sorry, what was the question?

Thanks Dave for the excellent perspective (living in Canada vs U.K.).
You covered it all . . . except . . . you didn't mention "Red Green" (my favorite) Mike |

Red Green (Steve Smith) actually lives nearby...or used to.
My Mother worked in Hardware for 50 years. Aikenheads Hdwe, Beaver Lumber, then Home Hardware for over 30 years. Anyway, Steve Smith used to frequent the Home Hardware where she worked and she would run into him every now and then. Yes, Red Green was a great show and much liked in Canada. LOL maybe I should do a Possum Van?!

The nice thing about Red Green is you don't have to be Canadian to understand him.
As long as you can speak English, you'll get it. Warning: You can see his old shows on YouTube, but if you start watching you won't be able to stop. Mike |

Did he cook the holiday dinner in the possum van or a different vehicle?

Duct tape is for the Double Decker Possum Van
"...women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy."
