Looks like the "Red Green Show" has quite a few fans on this site.
It will be fun to hear about it if you get a response from him.

Regarding the Possum Van: For authenticity, duct tape would be the way to go.

I just really haven't built anything lately, except the examples for my papercraft class.

Lee from the class would enjoy Koolwheelz, but the ladies probably would prefer something else. And since the good folks at Archwell Health cancelled my last class without telling me, I have lost enthusiasm for that now, too. The June model would have been Beatriz's Little House, but now that is going to be in July, with the Raspera Yellow Bunting in August.

Sorry for the highjack. Back to certifications...

Vice Grip garage is now a youtube sensation.
But I found Derek Bieri's youtube channel a couple of years ago when he was still relatively unknown.
He's a car guy, he's funny, and he's a big fan of all things American.
In his early videos he documented buying old American cars online, usually sight unseen,
then traveling to wherever the vehicle's are, and attempting to get them running well enough to drive it back home.
Sometimes the return trips are hundreds of miles, and things don't always go as planned.

As I said, Derek's credo is built on the idea that old cars need to be saved and not scrapped.
He values the visible age and patina on an old car, and tries very hard to save the look of things he restores.

In one episode, Derek fell for, and bought, an old rusty 1971 Chevelle...
basically because he saw a photos and it was painted with Stars and Stripes.
It turned out to be a lot worse than he had imagined...the body was in extremely bad shape, as well as the mechanics.
But the stars and stripes paint scheme won out, and he not only fixed and drove the car home...
he turned it into the star of his youtube channel, and a drag racing and burnout champion.

While the body stayed relatively untouched (by him), the chassis has been upgraded, the interior gutted and refitted,
and a complete new drivetrain installed that included a special Rear Axle and Differential, Transmission and
800hp Supercharged Big Block racing engine.

The car was renamed the Independance Chevelle, and a few small custom paint touches added to the outside and engine.
The Chevelle still has all its rust and patches and holes...in fact, its earned a few more dings and bruises.
If you'd like to check out the original video of Independance Chevelle, look here: ABANDONED Chevelle Will it Run After 30 Years and Drive 600 Miles? - Vice Grip Garage EP66 - YouTube

I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the entire story of this car, stretched out over two years and a dozen videos.
It has won a number of tire smoking burnout competitiions...
featuring special rear tires that produce red, white and blue smoke, I kid you not...
and has even run the quarter mile at a breathtaking 8 seconds!
All this, and its been street driven thousands of miles for special "drive and drag" events.

I've enjoyed the story so much, I just had to do a Koolwheelz version of the Independance Chevelle in all its rusty glory.
The car has changed a little since I created my model...one fender has been severely damaged in a burnout competition,
the car now has all its lights and lens for street legal use, and the tire and wheel package keeps changing.
But mostly it still looks the same.

This is another model I have been sitting on for quite some time, while I waited to hear back from Derek Bieri.
I sent an email and facebook message last year, telling him about the model, and hoping he would acknowledge it.
I've added a logo and link to his channel on the model sheet...
Unfortunately I have not heard back from Vice Grip Garage, which is too bad.
Please go check out his channel, subscribe, and check out his merchandise site too.

Happy Independence Day.
Find the Independence Chevelle in the Racerz section of Koolwheelz.

I love watching Vice Grip Garage. He's gotten back to the "Will it Start and drive hundreds of miles home" videos.
