attn: ship designers - USS Honolulu (CL-48)

Is there any interest in designing a model of the Brooklyn class light cuiser USS Honolulu - or any of the others of the WWII Brooklyn class as an alternative?

The USS Honolulu doesn't have a lot of historical significance, though it was an active participant in the Pacific theater, nor is it the center of any political debate (i.e.: USS Gage) - in fact, the Honolulu was sold for scrap almost 50 years ago. That said, it has personal significance and would very much appreciate being able to build and display her.

I'm certainly not looking for a Kooklik degree of detail, just a fair representation. Any reasonable scale would be fine - maybe 1:400, or 1:200/250 if someone wants to go full-boat on the detail?

Thanks,
Adam

Phoenix / Belgrano? (not into ships so much, just thinking ahead to alternate versions)

Indeed, I'm not necessarily into ship models much either...never built one yet (in paper) to be exact, but I've got history, so to speak, with this subject and would certainly like to stretch to the challenge.

JSC has a Helena lt cruiser. I think a little jiggery/pokery type modifications and you can get a fair approximation.

Hmm, Cmdrted, you might be onto something there.

The general stats (length, beam, weight, armament) are pretty darn close between the CL-48 and CL-50.

There appear to be some fair differences in the super structures, but nothing that looks insurmountable...in the right hands at least, which is to say, in somebody's hands besides my own.

1:400 looks like a good scale too - big enough to include adequate detail, but not so big that one feels compelled to simulate every rivet.

Any thoughts on what it would take to produce the super structure bits to swap out with those in the JSC kit?

Adam
