Scifi meets reality
I was cruising the web, looking for suggestions on tramp steamers named Oregon in possibility of designing a model as my first ship (Clive Cussler fan here), and I came across this:
It's the Yamato, a prototype Japanese submersible propelled by magnetohydrodynamics. Very Star Trekky looking. |

Looks cool, do it! On the topic of sci fi meets reality, how about this; Whispercraft by Fantastic Plastic
There's a already a free kit, but it's PDO-based... Could do with the OBP treatment, dunno if you'd be able to legally sell it though. JetPhotos.Net Photo » N9747P Double X Charter Whispercraft by Alan Radecki Niki |

I wouldn't be able to do that one, but I know I've seen an X-plane that did the exact same thing. Grrr, my google search skills have failed me.
edit: Found it, the Sikorsky S-72. Now I just gotta find a 3-view :/ Last edited by murphyaa; 10-04-2011 at 01:20 AM. |

The Yamato 1 Ship (not a Submersible) is pretty cool looking... except its over 20 years old, made its first actual run in 1992 as was only able to reach 15kmh (8 knots) Not exactly "to infinity and beyond" is it?
