Buildings - subject required.

Hi all,

not sure if this is the correct section to post this.

I've just started getting into designing my own paper and card buildings / structures. Following chats and suggestions from some fellow modelers (of the plastic variety) wondered what sort of buildings would be of interest and at which scale.

Someone did suggest a 1/32 scale RAF hangar, however, after getting the calculator out and working out it would be 1.4m wide decided that there may not be a great deal of demand for such a large model.

So if you have any suggestions, say a particular architectural period or style, building type / subject, then I'd be interested in your suggestions.

Regards,

Ron

What I would like to see are buildings in 1/25 scale similar to the Mini Art buildings. http://www.miniart-models.com/1-35_Dioramas.htm

I'm of two schools of thought. I really like turn-of-the century buildings (1900), but also really like oriental buildings (far east). On the other hand, I have a bunch of medieval European buildings, too. Probably anything you want to do.

If you do the design in a vector program (like Inkscape), scaling up/down is much less on an issue, though you might loose fine details if you scale things down too much.

As for building styles, sport stadiums (any kind of sport, mostly football/soccer/baseball) are poorly representated in this field of modelling.

Bigger is better in most circles.....But, a Lot of us O and HO scale Model railroaders doing turn of the century are a little short on "Victorian" era Buildings as well!!! That would be 1/48 and 1/87 respectively! Just a suggestion!

I have to agree with OhioMike. However I'd like to add 1/72 plus buildings for the 28mm/30mm wargaming enthusiasts. As to scaling "legion" is correct in that with any competent program your intended designs can be scaled to match whatever your modeling heart desires, within reason. Good luck with your project.

I would love to see a 1/72 scale model of the "lone house" which was part of the Bruneval Raid by British Paratroops.

They probably meant the WWII corrugated nissen huts, which are popular.

I'd like to see the bergen church, and some of the octagon houses, especially the Armour-Stiner Octagon House.

Some of the best little model houses I've seen are some of the weirder fairy houses... just sayin.... probably too difficult to do in paper/card though.

I think that HO model railroaders would go for any realistic looking buildings. Personally, I'd like to see some designs by Frank Lloyd Wright.
