EC 634 - 1909 Commer RC 20hp Estate Bus
Originally owned by Lord Lonsdale for use on his Cumbrian estate. Found in a barn in Linsdale, Buckinghamshire by the current owner's father in 1955. After a 3 year rebuild, and after passing to the current owner in 1982 it is now used for regular day trips and has attended most London to Brighton runs since 1988. Don't know if you've seen these photos: https://www.flickr.com/photos/homer-...7629723172094/ It seems to make the London to Brighton Commercial Vehicle Run which is usually in May, you could try to contact the organizers. Or maybe one of our forum members in the area could get you some underneath shots or pass your info on the owner to contact you. Just found this blog: We are all waiting for the last stragglers so we can finally be on our way. The plan is to drive up to town, spend the night in Greenwich and leave first thing Sunday morning for Brighton. It’s the annual London to Brighton run organized by the Historical Commercial Vehicle Society and it takes place on the first Sunday in May. My husband’s cousin, David, owns two such vehicles: a 1909 CommerCar shooting break and a 1969 Bedford single-decker coach. This is my second bus run, as we call it, but everyone else has been doing it for years. - See more at: http://wanderlustandlipstick.com/wan....I10TfhT7.dpuf Ana Astri-O’Reilley Might try contacting her to see if she'll put you in contact with the owner Last edited by whulsey; 02-09-2015 at 11:25 AM. already knew the first part.
already got all the flikr photos. last part is more interesting...I will follow the trail of Ana Astri-O’Reilley thanks ... follow-up found Ana's blog site, and her twitter feed, and her facebook page. She gets around! Anyway, I have emailed her asking to put me in contact with the 1909 Bus owner. Who knows, they might have some revealing photos. Only problem is, restorations before digital cameras appeared, are not well documented by private individuals. The digital age brought the possibility of shooting and saving hundreds of needless photos. On a vehicle restoration, you can shoot as much as your data card will hold! In my day, it cost money for a single roll of film, and I was limited to about 24 pics on a roll. And then it cost another $20 to process the prints. So, you learned how to be very selective and frugal when taking photos. I read that this Bus was properly restored in 1975.
