board games

Here's a crazy idea, how about designing a paper model version of the Axis & Allies board game? There are several versions from 1940 pacific/Europe, 1941, and 1942.

Hate to be a party pooper, but wouldn't this be an infringement of Avalon Hill's copyright?

Yup. We would have to work out different battle mechanics and all that ...

More than I would want to tackle

Check out Juniorgeneral for figures, top-down counters. I use them to source armies for wzrgaming.

No such luck... Thanks to extensions of copyright law (thank you, Walt Disney Corporation, for your greed), anything published after 1923 has a 95-year term of copyright protection, and anything published after 1980 is protected for 105 years. (so anything published in the 1970's can't be touched until 2065 at the earliest...)

Of course, that means any models people are publishing today are protected until 2126...

The easiest way to avoid copyright issues is to design and orchestrate original materials, let your imagination be your guide.
