Erie Canal, New York
Dear Friends:
Every couple of years I bring up the early Earie Canal as a subject for several models. How about an early 1825 1830's packet boat see attached painting for color and the Drawings I found.. PM me if you would like better resolution than the Thumbnails. HO scale should fit on 8 1/2 by 11 card stock Enjoy, Miles

Someday I hope to see you build a diorama of a portion of the Erie Canal, Miles.
With a miniature M. Linnabery at the tiller of the packet boat singing, "I scarcely think we'll get a drink Till we get to Buffalo." Cheers, Don |

I've been thinking of designing a canal boat but the type used to transfer ore from New Jersey to Pennsylvania. The canals had a system of inclined planes to raise the boats to higher elevations.

Dear Don, rmks2000 and Friends:
If you got drunk and fell overboard you just had to stand up it was only 4 foot deep. attached is a later canal boat from the second period of the canal when it was 6 foot deep, now it is 12foot deep. Enjoy, Miles

I like to see that once finished. New York City and New York state grew because of the Erie Canal.

With my health I'm not going to build one but will say that canals are an interest and these models and ideas for models are good to see.
