Anyone care to tackle this one?

Of course you can start with a Black Hawk base, and expand from there

yes that is what has been mentioned in one of the articles I linked

but what the Cheyenne had, a pusher prop, the SpeedHawk has a ducted fan prop, from what I have read, and I haven't finished it yet, the ducted fan allows for a more level flight, less nose down attitude, for the Navy this is interesting, because when towing a Antimine sled the helo will nose down, and that might be problematic

Well I guess I should have read them:o I'll check them out tomorrow at lunch time at work:D

The ducted fan tail I bet does give better performance........... but it still looks kinda funky on an otherwise sleek looking helicopter.:p

Rick,

Just read the links and boy.............. deja vue all over again!

Can you say......... Northrop Flying Wing and B-2 Spirit..............................

Why do we have to keep coming back to good ideas instead of working on the original and fixing the bugs.............yeah I know hindsite 20/20.

Where would Helicopters be now if this had been adopted almost 40 years ago when it first flew?

Here's a video of the Speedhawk. Nice sounding bird.

Rick tells me this video was shot at his hometown airport. Got a bit of a PM connection there...hehehe.

The tips on these helicopters reach nearly supersonic and if that happens they generate no life. The Carter copter design slows down the main rotor so that at higher speeds the rotor can provide life while not allowing the advancing blade to exceed the threshold that would reduce lift. If the issue of blade stalling is not addressed then "pushing" it faster would offer not any advantage. The Sikorsky ABC had the most rigid blade system ever produced and had 2 Huge Pratt and Whitney's to push it to world record speeds. The future is here, IMHO.

It reminds me of the prototype for the Cobra Helo.
