I too am interested in this topic.

I am surprised, with all the ship models out there, there is no Texas model?
If I were a ship modeler, I can say this is a subject I would like to tackle.

Alas, a Hull of this complexity is far beyond a simple PT Boat!
I'm not sure I have the skills to figure it out, especially since I don't work in 3D CAD.

As it happens, I did do a paper model of the Texas a few years back...
it was for a contest on World of Warships (game).
Since I felt I had no chance at winning one of the Medallions they were giving away,
I decided to recreate one in 3D paper.

Not quite what you are looking for.

Anyway, if nobody else picks this up, I think I would like to look into it.
I am somewhat stalled right, not finding the right motivation.

As I said, might be beyond my skills, but it might be the different type of project I have been looking for.
get me out of this building slump.

That's actually pretty cool - that Medallion.

A buddy of mine did the USS Texas in Lego...

Gregory LeBlanc on Instagram: "Alright, so I was able to get some better pictures of the Texas the other night after installing the final pieces. Rear radar is attached and the propellers are on! She's officially complete, other than printed tiles and pieces I eventually want to put on her.

On to the @webrick_com parts review. Overall, as with the smaller models, fairly impressed with most of them. That being said, the issues I did run into were major. The forward part of the spine ended up being a quarter of a plate too long, while the sides ended up being a quarter plate too short. So a half plate of difference in total. That really messed up the model as I designed it, but I did come up with an on-the-fly solution that worked for the connection. However, there is a pretty good little gap in between the main section of the sides of the ship and the stern, which can be seen in the last picture.

The other big issue I had was the flex tubing. I ended up using it for the main turrets and had to go with LEGO tubing for the masts because the material that GoBrick used is just too flexible for what I need it to do. I want to be clear, that's not necessarily a bad thing, just a bad thing in this particular case. But that's also an easy fix and now I know what it can be used for. So we're good.

Overall, still very impressed with the bricks to be honest despite the issues. The issues only show up on the huge models, so for smaller models I still think they're the way to go. In bigger personal models and kits in the future I'll probably use a mix of LEGO and WeBrick just to avoid that issue, because the other builds I've done with WeBrick pieces have gone together flawlessly except for my own design failures.

Watched this tonight.
I'm amazed at how small the Rudder is.
I expected to see something the size of Texas.
