Interested in a challenge
I'm about ready to jump off the deep end...I have nice thick lead weights attached to my feet cause I think I'm going to need them . I am interested in building a paper model of Astro Boy, but I'm having a rather hard time finding material. I have seen numerous pictures but I'm not exactly sure where to start. I don't have a clue about how to get this thing off the ground. I searched around looking for a 3d model of "him" but the only one that I found looked nothing like what was in the movie or even in the early television series. So that said, I do I go from 2d pictures (or even from the so called blueprint from the movie) to a 3d model to run through pekakura to transform into a paper model? The blueprint I found on the net basically shows the outline from the front and side with the robotics on the inside....I don't really want to get that deep into the build...at least not yet. I might be a glutton for punishment but I gotta draw the line some where.
SO any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have Blender as well for working with the 3d model before it gets to the unfolding stage. But first I need something to model. Rusty |

What not using cement shoes? afterall they did outlaw "lead" paint.
For airplanes a 3-view is what I use. How familar with Blender are you. Pixeloz has this tutorial... New Free E-Book About Paper Model Design With Blender 3D Best regards, Mike Bauer |

Hey Mike, yeah I found Pixeloz's tutorials, I downloaded it for that matter. I have played with Blender in the past but got frustrated with it. I used to do modeling using Poser but some of the geometrics involved with some of the Poser models was just too confusing.

Generally when I'm designing something, I'll get as much reference material as I can, study pictures from every angle I can find, then actually try and draw the shapes I need on paper, just to get an idea of what it might look like.
