Gil, thanks for taking this series on - these old Lockheeds look "the way airplanes are supposed to look". One doesn't have to wonder if they can fly, they very naturally suggest that they do.

Better Documentation Means Starting Over...,
I received documentation last night which answers questions that I've been wondering about. I went through the usual session of "that's how it looks" to deciding to start the design over in about two minutes. Design Deficit Disorder attacks once again. The only cure is good documentation...,
Now back to the restart..., +Gil |

Agree with Shrike on choice for a design, and pretty rendering thus far, too. I'd love to build Wily Post's old ride, others too, and almost embarked on a similar but primative venture. I don't recall seeing this aircraft with gear.

Engine Work...
Found time to start the Wright Aeronautical Cyclone F50 radial engine design. This is what the base of the cylinder head looks like sans cooling fins (to be added next). My wife thinks it looks like a fat baby turned upside down (Now I can't get that out of my mind every time I look at it).
Turned out to be an exercise in the use of the Rhino command set. The combustion chamber head area is not symmetrical requiring a lot of messing around to get it about right. Luckily it won't be visible on the surface so the edge artifacts won't show. Thought I'd try the PictureFrame command which places a 2D image into the render. Ever the slave of graphic fashion..., Enjoy..., +Gil |
