Hi Willja67 Your Super Corsair is spectacular to say the least, an inspiring design and build. Its way above my league, but why not push the boundaries and see if you can surpass the Halinsky or GPM benchmark you mentioned.

Gearz, Surpassing Halinsky? Tall order that one. If I were even going to attempt it I think I'd have to increase the scale to 1/20 or so. I have no doubt I could do it.....eventually. I know John Griffin has had fair success selling his Tempests and Thunderbolts which are large scale and Rick is generating a lot of interest with his scaled up Thunderbolt build I just wonder what the market is like for really large scale models?

Ketchup Labels
Will,
It's an inside joke. The Heinz ketchup label says "57 Varieties", hence "Heinz Keinz"..., Notice the color of number 57..., -Gil |

Figured it was about time I actually posted something about the model itself in this thread. I may brag about it too much but I'm really proud of the way I did the curved portion of wing and attached is a shot of the only version I've built without the flaps extended.
I've been working on the wing fold mechanism as well and have been getting really frustrated till i finally figured something out last night. The corsairs wing is hinged in 2 places one on the front spar and one on the main spar. There are plenty of references to the little door that had to open over the hinge on the main spar but I have never heard even the smallest whisper about a little door over the hinge on the front spar! And beleive me I've dug through a lot reference material on the subject. Well i was fiddling with the design trying to make mine functional (if your design is functional you're more likely to get the details right) and the only thing I could see working is if there was another door over the front hinge so I went looking through every pic I had and finally found one that showed it to good advantage. The only reason it's visible is because the outboard wing sections are painted and the inboard have only been primered. So now I can make some more progress!

Will... does this one help? I guess not, it's not a sharp shot, but tell you what, I can go to the museum and get more for you, just tell me from where and what angles.

Gerardo,
I'll gladly take you up on that offer. Every angle you can get around the area I have circled in my previous post. There are very few published photos of the front hinge, so that would be nice. Most just get the general area around the leading edge. Just imagine you were trying to design it and take the pics you think you would need to do it. Thanks a bunch
