Don't know any kits but seller "davesdrydock" on eBay has plans for those. Whoops - found a kit of the Macon in the Paper Models International catalog http://www.papermodels.net/p38.html but he may not be in business now.

There is a 24" kit of the USS Los Angeles on eBay with laser cut plywood formers, plastic engines and cupola, etc. I know it's not paper but might be of interest to an airship fan. Look for seller "idesigntec_dot_com" - spelled as shown with the underscores...

moduni.de has the Schreiber (Graf Zeppelin, Hindenburg) and Papmobil (Los Angelos) kits, but their shipping is very expensive. You might try contacting HobbyFactory so see if they can special order - this will save quite a bit in shipping. Paper Models International (PMI) has a new owner so it may be a while before you can order from them.

JSC has kits of the German war zepps L48 and L59. L48's design greatly influenced Shenandoah's; she was virtually a copy of a captured German airship. Los Angeles was made by Zeppelin as war reparations; outwardly, she was similar to Graf Zeppelin.
PMI sold models of Akron/Macon and Hindenburg, but i don't remember the name of the publisher. I have them both, but they're in storage. The Macon kit included a mooring mast and 2 to-scale Sparrowhawks. Lastly, the reborn Hawk plastic model company is offering their large-scale Graf Zeppelin again. |
