Interesting approach, Mark. You could make a case that, if the United States had made the commitment to provide modern military equipment to the Republic of Korea in the late 1940s, the fledgling ROKAF might have received these as a counter to late-model Soviet Lavochkin, or some other, even more advanced, Soviet fighters. Thus providing an incentive for a model of some Soviet equivalent to the F-72 in North Korean KPAAF markings.

The P-47 was used by a number of air forces in South America after WW2. If the XP-72 had proceeded perhaps the Brazilian Air Force might have had a group of these rather than P-47s.

Wings Palette - WINGS PALETTE - Republic P-47 Thunderbolt - Brazil has some Brazilian profiles.

Regards,

Charlie

To tell you the truth I personally am kind of hoping for something on the wild side along the same lines as the Moonbeam II scheme. I really don't know what I'm looking for only that I'll know when I see it. But along more traditional lines I have always liked the Tuskegee Redtail motife.

I've got an idea... will have to find a time to draw up the paint scheme.

And the "Escuadron Aereo de Pelea 201" (201st Mexican Fighter Squadron) of the Mexican Expeditionary Air Force (Fuerza Aerea Expedicionaria Mexicana) flew P-47s in combat in the Philippines.

I'll bet friend Gerardo (milenio3) would love to see one of those and I'll also bet that the "Aztec Eagles" would have had a pretty spiffy color scheme and markings if the war had lasted longer in the Pacific and if they had flown P-72s against Nakajima Ki-87s and Mitsubishi A7Ms.

When surfing around yesterday I saw a pink P40 in sharkmouth / flying tigers motif...
