Robot Monster Build
"Robot Monster" has the the lowest budget alien ever created for film. This is movie is batsh!t crazy if you ever get to watch it. Since this is such a unique alien, I wanted to add it to my 50's monster and creature collection
I made a basic body and printed out the patterns on my nifty homemade plotter I assembled the body and feet. Now working on the hands and helmet. I think the challenge will be how to represent fur in a paper form... I will try a few different methods. The first is to shred some black crepe paper and layer that on. See what happens

Never heard of that one. Looked it up and in 3-d, my head is hurting just thinking about it. Carry on, will be interested to see what you come up for the fur.

All good ideas for fur treatment :)
All good ideas for fur! I saw some paper easter egg grass at a hobby store. I may try that out too.
@AirDave, yes it is terrible! It's almost like the filmmakers are actually insulting the viewer's intelligence. "ah, they'll buy into this...it's sci-fi!" that intrigues me. I made the hands and the small, masked head that is inside the helmet:

skull head
I saw a nice drawing of Ro-man that had a skull inside the helmet!

If you notice in the photo the monster's so crap the girl doesn't ever look frightened ! (Or that's her 'frightened face, and she's an equally crap actress).

All the Posters and Lobby Cards for this film all depict a skull faced Gorilla Monster.
One of those misleading art images that were common in posters and movie art. Note the depiction of the Monster carrying the unconscious girl? Remind you of anything? ...the same pose was used for Forbidden Planet posters of Robby the Robot carrying Altara. (A scene that was not actually in the movie!) George Barrows, the man in the gorilla suit, just wore a cloth sac over his head to hide his face inside the costume. I have a good photo of the actual (found) helmet from this film (its in the book "It Came from Bob's Basement"). Unfortunately I can't find the image online, and I don't want to scan the book. But the helmet looks like paper mache, and its pretty rough looking!

perfect material for the Mystery Science Theater 3000 on TV where they spoof all the old B ( B for bad ) rated and below science fiction movies going back to the 50's. I wonder if they spoofed this one as well.
If you have the urge to watch those movie spoofs, they are on Netflix. Isaac
