Your job looks absolutely great Thales. Please go ahead with the book. A detailed "howto" book would be VERY interesting for everyone. After spending days in an interesting project, it's sad to look at it and realize that probably a child can do it better.

I started some real writing yesterday. I have a 3.5pg outline and 13 pages of text so far... and I haven't even covered the set of "basics" I wanted in there as an initial jumping off point. My mental estimate of 100 pages of information... I think my estimate will turn out to have been low.

That being said, one of the worst issues with writing a significant piece of text (doubly so for instructional or technical topics) is editing. Does anyone happen to have a background in editing and would they be willing to give this a once over when I have more of it done?

[I really should turn the book idea into its own separate thread.]

I spent four decades as a newspaper reporter. Some of my editors would tell you I don't know anything about editing, but I usually outlasted them, so there's that.

That said, I fear my total lack of familiarity with the design programs involved would hamper me; its hard to edit something knowledgeably if you don't have a basic understanding of the issue/program/whatever involved. But for spelling, grammar, etc., I'm good....

I have no intention of trying to explain how to use a specific piece of software. The technology changes so fast and there are so many packages, that to try to explain how to operate them would be a mistake.

That being said, I will talk about a few concepts to apply when using the software packages, but they should be easy enough to understand when put into english.

It took me about 5 start and stop, redo, start again cycles to get the layout of the lower side of the rear corner to look good. I think originally I was trying to be too fancy. But one picture feels like very little to show for a week worth of work.
