I love the detailed engine and its cylinders. As if I can hear the sound of these PW's.

The first Columbine according to my info was used by Roosevelt
to get to the Casablanca conference. The Bataan was used by McArthur after the B-17 of the same name. Maybe my source is wrong. I don't always believe Google. Cheers, Bob |

Bataan / Columbine
My point was that neither was anything like the DC-4.

Cor made two animations showing (part of ) the 3D > 2D process for designing the instruction drawings. Getting myself a You Tube account was definitely a Bridge too Far (interesting movie, that), so I put them on my Tumblr collection: Paper Models from all over the world
By the way: if you have any pictures of your own builds, I would like you to send some. Original size - I will adapt them if necessary. Send to da.denbakker(at)planet.com

Diderick, VC-54C 42-1074511 was a one-off C-54 reconfigured
to accommodate President Roosevelt in his wheelchair by an elevator cut in the bottom. This carried him to Yalta for the meeting with Churchill and Stalin. This was somehow called "Sacred Cow" probably by workers who modified it, who knows. A C-54 was also used in North Africa by Eisenhower, Churchill and others. General Douglas MacArthur was transported to Tokyo in C-54E 44-9027 "Bataan" (or BataanII) in 1945 to accept the Japanese surrender. I don't how you say these weren't C-54s. Around the beginning of the Korean War MacArthur was issued a Lockheed Constellation. The first C-54 was a preproduction version with triple tails and was sent to Japan before the war. This info is from the WWII Warplanes site, not Google. Cheers, rjm |

In the meantime, Erik Zwaan has started a test build in close coöperation with designer Cor. Most visitors to this ite will probably like to look for Papertrade 1:50 DC-4/C-54 KLM version
We have all had a first holiday in at least 18 months, and now keen to continue the project. I will use the new thread to announce publication, so check that out.

Quote:
Bob I think there is a slight confusion here. Columbine was a name used by president Eisenhower as his official aircraft. There were Columbine 2 and 3 and both were Lockheed Constellation and Super constellation and not Douglas C-54 derivatives. Lockheed VC-121E “Columbine III” > National Museum of the United States Air Force™ > Display By the way. Columbine is the state flower of Colorado. Eisenhower's wife selected that name and was recognized also for the plane. here is the Sacred Cow info: Douglas VC-54C “Sacred Cow” > National Museum of the United States Air Force™ > Display Now if there is a Columbine that is a C-54 derivative, that is another story. Can you please clarify which Columbine you intended? Isaac
